How to reset security questions

SO I recently got a gift card of 10 dollars emailed to me. When i went to make a purchase it says to answer two security questions I forgot the answers to. But when i reset it wouldn't allow me because it said I needed to check a code. I'm not sure if it was via email because it gave me a period and 6 numbers afterwards. Is there a way for me to setup a new rescue email without the questions?
